The bug which I've reported last year is still present:

In the EurekaLog error dialog, when I click on "Send Error report"
button, it tries to open and send with WinMail E-mail client (which is
not configured on my system), ALTHOUGH the default E-Mail client on my
system is Mozilla Thunderbird!!!!!

So why EurekaLog 6.0.14 Professional is not able to detect the default
E-Mail client on a Vista system??

As you can see from the attached images that Thunderbird actually *IS*
the default e-mail program in Vista.

When I execute a MAPI comand to create a new e-mail message with Delphi
code, this opens the default e-mail client Thunderbird without problems,
so why this does not work in EurekaLog?

Hi Peter,

can you send to me the Delphi source code that on your PC open the Thunderbird client, please?

Same problem here with last thunderbird, Windows Vista full upgraded.

EurekaLog tries to create a WinMail account.

Hi,

EurekaLog uses Simple MAPI protocol. If Thunderbird doesn't support it or doesn't register itself as Simple MAPI client - EurekaLog have no way to use it.

Hi,

Unfortunately, each sending method includes its own advantages and disadvantages. There is no "best" sending method - that's why EurekaLog supports different sending methods.

Select the method, which is most appropriate for you.

The best, most reliable way to email logs is by *not* using EL SMTP or
MAPI to do the sending. There are too many things that can go wrong on a user's system that blocks this process.

You might consider using a Web-based solution like Mantis or Fogbugz.
Both are supported by EL and work around the problems you are having. EL logs into a web page and posts the bug information, rather than sending an email.

You can still get an email for each exception that EL detects - Mantis
and probably Fogbugz can do the emailing. Since you have control over
the web server, the email is almost guaranteed to get through to you.

You also gain the ability to prioritize bugs, assign them to
programmers, manage multiple projects, make notes on bug reports, view
your bugs on a secure web site, give your customers limited access (or
not) - the advantages are many.

I had many of the problems you are having, since I don't have control
over many of my user's computers. I switched to Mantis and could not be happier with my EL bug reports.

Mantis is open source (free), as is all the supporting software
necessary to make it run. All you need is a computer connected to the Internet 24/7. If you have a dynamic IP, then you can use a free dynamic DNS service to work around that problem.

Fogbugz is a commercial product, and I don't know much more about it.

HTH!

I feel comfortable with Mantis :)
So my clients don't need to have an email client installed (and
configured) :)

Obliuosly you need a web space, if you have it than consider using it ;)
