Repost from general:

I know Mantis is supported by Eurekalog, but since we are not allowed to
install php-based software at work (University of Oslo) due to security
reasons), mantis is outruled here :-(

The IT department supports RT and Jira, so I wonder if Eurekalog also do
support any of them ??

http://www.bestpractical.com/rt/

Any interests for this support ??

(Bonus, they don't depend on php or MySQL in case you work like me in a
place where both php and MySQL are banned due to security risks.)

Hi Christophersen,

I'm sorry but seems like no other is interested to have the support for this tool.

However I hope to can add customizable Web-Modules supports in the next major version! :)

Hi,

I think that you can start to study JIRA API right now ;)
Because we're going to add support for custom sending code, so you can write a plugin for EurekaLog, which works with JIRA.

Fine. Then I will ask for that at work.

Hi,

It's planned for v7. We do not implement new feature in v6 - they go to v7. Only bug fixes are implemented in v6.

Ok, then I'll postpone an update from v. 5 until v. 7 is out (if I
manage to get some funds from Universirty (but that's rather doubtful,
they provide only funds to projects that has a certain change of
aquiring a Noble prize in medicine :-( )

But, provided you can guarantee it by pointing to other researchers research that prove it would be a success.

Interfacing with JIRA will assure us incorporating Eurekalog into most of all our win32 apps. Only wish our java apps could sure use this kind of tool, too. :)

When can we expect that version 7 supporting "custom sending code" will be released?
Any idea on how time-consuming it would be to implement a simple JIRA plugin?
Right now we are considering buying JIRA bugtracking, and hope that we will be able to use it with EurekaLog without using a lot of time making plugins etc.

Hi,

We have no estimates on release dates, but right now we're working on preparing a preview version of v7. I'm not sure how much it'll take, but definitely this summer or even this month (if there will be no unexpected issues). I really hope so.

As for JIRA support - I do not know. I never see it, I never see its API (does it have one?), I can't say how long it will take.

However, it's not neccessary to ship JIRA support with EL. It may be made available as separate download - since it will be just a plugin. So, it may happens that EL v7 will be released without JIRA support and we'll make JIRA support available a bit later - as extension.

If somebody else would come with their variant of plugin before us - they are welcome :) And we still have requests for other bug-trackers too. We just can't please everybody at once - so one step at time only, sorry.

If you really-really want JIRA and do not want to wait for us to implement it - you can start implementing it now, so when EL 7 will be out, you can just add your code and got everything worked.

I voted up for RT. I too am not impressed with Mantis or Bugzilla, or most of the the other web / PHP based tracking systems. Fogbugz looks nice but for a person of 1 (me), the $999 fee is too steep.

In typical programmer fashion, I'll probably have to write something myself! LOL!
