    Eternal message: The new Eurekalog 6.1.04 version is available ....

    Hi,

    I've installed Delphi 6 (Eurekalog 5 included) on a new Windows 7 computer.
    Every time I start Delphi, the message "The new Eurekalog 6.1.04 version is available. Do you want to go to the Web site?" appears.
    That sucks.
    The old machine (XP) doesn't do that thing.

    Best regards
    Norbert

    Hi,

    Hmm, weird. I never saw this issue on my Win7 machine.

    Have you tried to disable check in options? (See EurekaLog/IDE options menu item inside IDE).

    Thanks for answering.
    But I didn't find the mentioned option.
    The version 5 option-pages I see are:
    Send, Log File, Exception Dialog, Advanced, Messages, Exceptions
    And I didn't find anything like "looking for newer versions"

    Hi,

    You're looking at:

    Project / EurekaLog project options

    However, I said:

    EurekaLog / IDE options

    Take a closer look at IDE menu bar - there should be menu item near "Tools".
    Best regards...

    Sorry for bothering you with an old Eurekalog version.

    but I did'nt have either "IDE/Tools/EurekaLog IDE Settings"
    nor "EurekaLog / IDE options"
    The menu bar contains
    ....Project, component, Tools, GExpert, Oracle, Help

    (I've reinstalled Eurekalog for probably getting the menu items.)
    And I've looked at my XP-computer, it also doesn't have the mentioned menu-items. And it doesn't ask for looking for newer Eurekalog version.
    What is the difference?

    I'd looked in the registry and in EurekaLog.ini but there are no specific entries on the XP-Computer.
    Is there a registry setting I could use, to omit the message?

    Hi,

    Sorry, I missed the piece about EurekaLog version.

    Unfortunately, we don't longer have EurekaLog 5 source code, but I think that the same method is used in early EurekaLog 6 source tree. So...

    Can you try to add these lines to EurekaLog.ini? (if they already are present - change them)

    [IDE]
    CanCheckUpdates=0
    You can also try to copy EurekaLog.ini file from WinXP machine.

    When editing file or copying it - be awared about virtual store in Windows 7. Basically, the system behaviour can be altered whenever UAC is on or off.

    For best result - edit/replace EurekaLog.ini file in the following locations:
    1. C:\Windows\EurekaLog.ini
    2. C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windo ws\EurekaLog.ini
    (replace "username" with your real account name)

    You will need to have administrator rights to edit/change C:\Windows\EurekaLog.ini file. I think the best option is to copy it into another location (say, My Documents), change it and then copy back - Explorer will automatically suggest you to elevate for copying/replacing the file (if you're working under administrator account and have UAC enabled).

    File in virtual store can be edited/replaced without any additional requirements.
    Best regards...

    Many Thanks, problem solved:

    in C:\WINDOWS\EurekaLog.ini
    I found:
    [IDE]
    CanCheckUpdates=1
    LastUpdateCheck=40987597

    and changed it to
    [IDE]
    CanCheckUpdates=0
    LastUpdateCheck=40987597

    __________________________
    but on XP it was
    [IDE]
    CanCheckUpdates=1
    LastUpdateCheck=39595652

    and I don't understand the different behavior on the two machines.
    But it is not necessary that I know why...

    Best regards
